How Unitia Immigration collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information. This policy follows the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the CICC Code of Professional Conduct.

Unitia Immigration Consulting Inc. (“Unitia,” “we,” “I”) is a CICC-licensed Canadian immigration consulting firm based in Toronto, Ontario. 2. Information we collect
To provide immigration counsel and prepare applications to IRCC, we collect:

3. How we use your information
We use your personal information only for the following purposes:
- Providing immigration consulting services under a written retainer agreement.
- Preparing and submitting applications to IRCC, ESDC, CBSA, and provincial immigration authorities on your behalf.
- Communicating with you about your file, scheduling consultations, and responding to inquiries.
- Meeting our obligations under the CICC Code of Professional Conduct, including record retention requirements.
- Compliance with applicable Canadian law (PIPEDA, Income Tax Act, anti-money-laundering legislation).
4. Disclosure to third parties
We do not sell or trade your information. We disclose your personal information only:
- To IRCC and other government agencies as required to file your application.
- To network RCIC colleagues only when their involvement on your file is necessary and disclosed to you in writing in advance, with their CICC registration number.
- To service providers (cloud document storage, payment processing, accounting) who are contractually bound to protect your information.
- When required by law (court order, regulatory request, statutory disclosure obligation).
5. Data storage and security
Your information is stored on encrypted servers located in Canada, with industry-standard security measures including encryption at rest and in transit, access controls limited to authorized personnel, and regular security audits.
6. Retention
The CICC Code of Professional Conduct requires that we retain client files for a minimum of 6 years from the date of last activity on the file. After that period, we may securely destroy files unless you request earlier destruction or longer retention.
7. Your rights
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Access your personal information held by us.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Withdraw consent to certain uses (note: this may make it impossible to continue providing services).
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe we have mishandled your information.
8. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses minimal cookies for essential functionality. If we use analytics services (such as Google Analytics), this will be disclosed via a cookie consent banner.
9. International transfers
For clients filing immigration applications, certain information will necessarily be transmitted to IRCC and may be accessed by Canadian missions abroad in connection with your application. This is inherent to the immigration process.
